About me: Having inherited a large collection, I set about learning more . Looked at buying and selling on websites etc. Didn't realise the complexities, so set about cataloging and listing. Still at it. I know catalog values aren't what your likely to get, but any idea is good. Plus I was burgled, so a inventory was a good idea. Just stumbled on this site and thought I would give it a try. If you would like to see a sample of my efforts contact me at with the country you want and your contact email I will attach the PDF and return. Great Britain by default. Make sure your email software accepts a few megabytes as an attachment.
About my collection: Decided to restrict my collection to 1840 to 1949, with a couple of exceptions. Now I have 52,500 or so listed with image. I am now looking at my stamps for the first time in five years ticking off the ones I have against the ones listed. I have a online database with the images acquired from the internet. I am working on a computer based spreadsheet with images that can be easily converted to PDF and shared.
